Uniting Newmarket's racing industry behind a 15-year vision
Uniting Newmarket's racing industry behind a 15-year vision
KOR Communications coordinated twelve months of engagement for the Newmarket Thoroughbred Racing & Breeding Industry Forum to produce The Case for Newmarket, the industry's vision for the next 10 to 15 years, prepared at the local authority's request. Launched in April 2026 to parliamentarians, councillors, officers and sector press, the report speaks for 80 trainers, 70 stud farms and more than 2,500 horses in training.
The project
Newmarket is the historic home of horseracing. It is home to 80 trainers, 70 stud farms and more than 2,500 horses in training in any one month.
Since 2022, we have worked with the Newmarket Thoroughbred Racing & Breeding Industry Forum (NTRBIF) to bring together the different components of this world-renowned cluster as a single voice, working with the local authority to protect and enhance the unique fabric of the town. The Forum was asked by the local authority to prepare a comprehensive report setting out the industry's vision for the next 10 to 15 years.
Our approach
Working closely with planning consultants and the NTRBIF Lead, we coordinated engagement and consultation with members over twelve months, facilitating two workshops to discuss and agree the report's priorities.
As the report took shape, our focus turned to delivering a launch that matched the significance of a document that would inform and shape the industry's next decade. We identified stakeholders, planned the event and managed all communications.
The outcome
The Case for Newmarket was launched in April 2026 to an audience of local authority members and officers, parliamentarians, local and sector press, and representatives from across Newmarket's horseracing and breeding industry.
The report sets out a bold vision to protect and enhance the historic home of horseracing for the next 10 to 15 years, and the launch secured coverage across local press, radio and sector publications.
